Welcome to Colwick Church!

Welcome!  We are part of:

And Churches Together in Britain and Ireland https://ctbi.org.uk

DURING THE CURRENT CRISIS, please see our “Events” page and our “Notices” page for our response and resources.  We are praying as we begin to resume things.  There is a Zoom service on Sunday.  Please see our “Notices” page for more information.

St John the Baptist, Church of England is the only church in Colwick and has close links to our village school of the same name.

The church is situated on the corner of Rectory Road and Vale Road next to the Community Centre.

The church was built in 1951 although there is a much earlier, ruined church in the grounds of Colwick Hall which is situated behind the racecourse just down the road on the way to Nottingham.

Normally:

On Sunday our service (Parish Eucharist) begins at 9am and lasts about an hour. Children are very welcome and there is a Sunday School that takes place during the first part of the service every Sunday except the second Sunday of the month when we all worship together at 4pm instead of 9am and the 5th Sunday which is Cafe Church for all ages (9am).

We would love to welcome you to any of our services. You do not need to book to attend a service but you are required to wear a mask to come in and out of the church and for singing.

Our Church is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people, and adults, particularly the vulnerable and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  Ensuring that children and young people as well as adults are kept safe whilst in our care is an integral part of our church life.  We also have an accessible toilet and there are no steps into church.  There are chairs instead of pews, so they can easily be moved for a wheel chair.  If you have any particular needs, please let us know.

Our PCC has adopted the House of Bishops’ ‘Promoting a Safer Church; safeguarding policy statement’ and our Safeguarding and other policies can be found here: Policies

Our Parish Safeguarding Officer (PSO) is currently vacant so our church has to remain closed and we have few activities. You are welcome to join our Zoom services at Carlton Church. Please contact the church administrator at stjohnschurchcarlton@gmail.com for more information.
